The five neighborhooods with the highest violent crime rates through September 2024 are not the five neighborhoods with the highest violent crime rates through September 2023.

In the city of Denver, violent crimes so far in 2024 are slightly down from 2023’s figures. Through the end of September, Denver is averaging 459.3 violent crimes a month — in 2023, the city averaged 460.9 a month. A negligible difference.

On a neighborhood by neighborhood basis, Denver’s violent crimes play out slightly differently. From January to the end of September, violent crime rates are highest among, mostly, the neighborhoods with the most foot traffic. The exception: Sun Valley, which had the third-largest violent crime rate. Over the same time period in 2023, Five Points ranked in the top five (Sun Valley ranked sixth).
